Founder’s Day 2018 was bigger and better than ever before with many activities and performances happening across the week in lead up to the main event! Art exhibitions, Drama Showcases and the Official Opening of the Organ were just some of the activities and performances on offer for our students, parents and staff before the main celebration on Saturday 9 June which welcomed 4000 guests from the Dulwich family as well as residents from the local community. Musical performances filled the entire day, including a dazzling performance from Band on the Run and a visually stunning drum performance from Drum Feng. Many students, staff and even some parents graced the stage to the delight of everyone. Guests were also treated to live performances at the acoustic stage, where there were an impressive range of acoustic performances including jazz piano, solo singers and our very own Dulwich Singers. Surrounding the acoustic stage was the Festival of Senses, where a variety of exclusive vendors offered a range of products that worked the five senses of taste, sight, touch, smell and sound.
A stone’s throw away from the Festival of Senses, guests witnessed our Headmaster and other Dulwich staff being dunked into water tanks, all thanks to none other than our students, who were certainly spoilt for choices with several fun attractions at the football pitch such as the bouncy castles, bumper football, gladiator coliseum and many more to choose from. On either side of the football pitch, guests enjoyed a water polo competition and a live demonstration of our CCAs at the Aquatic Centre and the Senior School Gym respectively.
At the stroke of the hour, the bell of the clock tower sounded and an array of fireworks lit up the beautiful campus. It was a memorable celebration where the whole community came together to celebrate Founder’s Day. The opening of Dulwich College (Singapore) in August 2014 was the largest of any international school to date and the second phase of the College’s construction was brought forward by a year in response to the huge demand for places. In just a few months, our College will be able to offer the IB Diploma Programme to its Year 12 students. The future is bright and we look forward to many more remarkable events to come.
