Alan joined Dulwich College (Singapore) August 2016. He previously worked at ACS Egham International School in England where he was the High School Assistant Principal / IB Diploma Coordinator for six years and before this the Head of the Technology department. He has taught and coordinated in both Information Technology and Design Technology departments at international schools in Egypt and Mexico.
His interest in the use of technology to enhance learning led him to complete a Master's degree in IT within education, which fired his increasing enthusiasm for blended learning techniques and the power of using technology to support teaching and learning to improve achievement and access. This continues with Alan initially involved in developing the online Information Technology in a Global Society course for the IB through Pamoja, and also teaching this course to students around the world.
Alan works closely with the IB organisation: examining for the ITGS subject; as a workshop leader and also involved in the curriculum development of the current ITGS course. He has also certified to be a team member for the NEASC accrediting organisation and been part of IB MYP Evaluation teams that evaluates and authorises schools around the Africa Europe and Middle east region over the past five years.
Outside of the classroom, Alan is a very keen fine art enthusiast regularly attending exhibitions. He is also a keen enthusiast of live music and regularly attends concerts from every musical genre. Finally, he is a lifelong sufferer and supporter of Portsmouth football club. Alan is joined in Singapore by his wife and daughter.
