Jeffery (Jeff) Aitken

In 1996 Jeff began his teaching career in the UK before heading overseas again to teach at the British International School Penang in Malaysia, the American International School Caracas in Venezuela, and Tanglin Trust School in Singapore, where he was Assistant Head in the Senior School.
In 2014, along with his family, Jeff returned to Canada to take up the post of Head of School at St. John’s Kilmarnock School, an International Baccalaureate (IB) Continuum school in Ontario. A position he held for more than four years before joining Dulwich College (Singapore) in 2018.
Jeff is an experienced and passionate advocate for the International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes; he has written and worked extensively for IB, as both Deputy Chief and Principal Examiner, as well as a Leadership and Teacher Workshop Leader, and Evaluator for IB's Global Quality Assurance Framework. In November 2014, Jeff was elected to the IB Heads' Council, a position he held until 2017. Jeff has worked to implement IB programmes in three schools over 15 years.
Jeff is married to Mariana, his wife of almost 15 years and fellow teacher and IB examiner; they have two sons who attend the Junior School, and a daughter currently in university. Jeff has coached swimming and directed numerous theatre productions; he enjoys swim training, as well as seeing or participating in theatre at every opportunity.
