Inspiring Personal Development Through the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award at DCSG

We are thrilled by the continued success and growth of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE), a globally recognised programme that challenges students to step outside their comfort zones and develop valuable life skills.
This year, we are proud to have our highest numbers to date, with 74 students registered for the Bronze Award, 47 for Silver, and 10 for Gold, with even higher numbers expected next year.
The DofE Award at our school is not just about earning a certificate; it's about personal development through adventure, community service, and skills-building. Students commit to challenges across four key sections: Volunteering, Physical, Skills, and Adventurous Journey. These experiences nurture resilience, teamwork, leadership, and self-reliance—qualities that will benefit our students throughout their lives.

Earlier this year, our Gold Award students embarked on an unforgettable journey, sea kayaking around the seas surrounding both Langkawi and Borneo in Malaysia. This adventure tested their endurance, teamwork, and ability to navigate the open waters, providing them with both a physical and mental challenge. The sea kayaking expedition was an incredible opportunity for students to develop crucial skills while immersed in the natural beauty of the region.

For our Silver Award students, their qualifying expedition took them on an exciting hike along the Kumano Kodo Trail in Japan. This ancient pilgrimage route provided a challenging yet rewarding experience that allowed students to connect with nature and deepen their understanding of perseverance and self-discipline.
Looking ahead, our Bronze Award students will undertake their qualifying expedition in May, hiking through the beautiful landscapes of Langkawi. This adventure will challenge them to apply the skills they’ve developed while encouraging teamwork and problem-solving in a dynamic and demanding environment.
We are incredibly proud of the growth of the DofE Award at Dulwich College (Singapore) and look forward to the many exciting journeys and achievements still to come!
