Relevant Experience

James joined Dulwich College (Singapore) in August 2018.  He has worked as a Head of Music in schools in Singapore, Brunei Darussalam, Malaysia and the UK.

James began his teaching career as a Peripatetic teacher of Woodwind in New Zealand, as well as performing as a clarinet and saxophonist in a professional orchestra. He has been an active member of the Composers Association of NZ and the NZ Concert Band Association, where he was involved in the promotion of contemporary music as well as the organisation of national music festivals. James is an avid composer of music and has previously directed several community choirs, wind orchestras and big bands.

Outside of school, he enjoys time with his wife Jacqueline and their son Alexander. James is active as a middle distance runner, and has a passionate interest in gamelan. He enjoys listening to music, cooking and travelling.
