Dulwich Students Recognised for Outstanding I/GCSE Results in 2022 Pearson Award

  • 93 Dulwich College (Singapore) students have been selected as Pearson Excellence Awards achievers
  • Dulwich College (Singapore) students attained the highest marks in Singapore for both IGCSE English Language and IGCSE Economics, the highest mark in Asia for GCSE Physical Education and the highest mark in the world for IGCSE German!

At Dulwich College (Singapore), we take pride in all our students' achievements, recognising each individual's hard work, application and commitment both in and out of the classroom. Examination grades are one way these achievements are measured, and we were delighted by the high grades attained by our most recent examination cohort. We are proud to announce that amongst the 40,000 candidates in the APAC region that sat I/GCSE exams in 2022, 93 out of the 1,100 Pearson Excellence Awards achievers were from Dulwich College (Singapore).

Pearson Edexcel is the UK's largest awarding body offering academic and vocational qualifications in schools, colleges and workplaces in the UK and abroad. Since 2021, the Pearson Excellence Award recognises learners who achieved excellent results across multiple subjects – in this case, our students achieved a minimum of 5 subjects awarded at Grade 7 and/or A and above for their I/GCSEs. They will receive a certificate of excellence presented by a senior leader from Pearson Education to symbolise this impressive milestone.

We would also like to highlight four students who have received the 2022 Outstanding Pearson Learner Awards (OPLAs)! The OPLA achievers are presented to candidates in each exam series who have achieved the highest subject mark in their country, region, and world.

The students are:

  • Ethan Daugherty for Highest Mark in Singapore for IGCSE English Language
  • Maria Chow for Highest Mark in Singapore for IGCSE Economics
  • Isobel Rance for Highest Mark in Asia for GCSE Physical Education
  • Valentina Stemmer for Highest Mark in the World for IGCSE German

These students have been invited to the awards ceremony, which will be held at CSC@Tessensohn on 28 February 2023.

Corin James, Deputy Head of Senior School, shares: "We were extremely proud of our students' I/GCSE grades this year: the cohort as a whole achieved excellent results, with 89% of grades awarded being at A*/A or equivalent level. It is not easy to stand out among such excellence, so it is only right that we congratulate and celebrate the students that Pearson has recognised. To achieve the highest mark in the nation, the region or even worldwide is a truly outstanding achievement. Similarly, the students who have been awarded a Pearson Excellence award for high grades across various subjects deserve praise for their hard work across the board. Congratulations to all the students involved, the vast majority of whom continued to pursue passions and commitments outside the classroom even as they worked towards academic success.

We take this opportunity to congratulate our students on their success, and we look forward to seeing what accolades they achieve next.
