Junior School Music

At Dulwich College (Singapore), music is a highly valued part of the curriculum. We believe that a love of music should begin with our youngest students.

In Junior School, every student is given an instrument that they are taught on throughout the year, and that they can take home to practice with.

In Year 3, student receive violin, viola and cello.
In Year 4, student receive violin, viola, cello and double bass.
In Year 5 and Year 6, student receive violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, clarinet, trumpet and trombone.

Students have the opportunity to participate in an extensive range of orchestral, instrumental and choral ensembles and can join the school Choirs, Strings, Concert Band and even Swing Band. Students also have opportunities to perform in public and work with professional musicians through events such as the MADD Festival (Music, Art, Drama and Dance), the Dulwich Festival of Music, Diversity Festival, ISCMS International School Choral Music Society Festival and FOBISEA music festivals.
