2023-24

Dulwich College (Singapore) received two prestigious awards in the inaugural Tes Awards for International Schools, winning the ‘Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Award’ and the ‘Sustainability Award’! The awards recognise and celebrate educational institutions from around the globe.

The Dulwich Olympiad 2024, a week-long celebration of sport, drama, music, and art and design events, took place between 18-22 March. Over 891 students from 13 schools across the Dulwich International community converged to showcase their prowess and passions.

On Thursday 23 November, EiM and the College officially launched the groundbreaking net-zero building, The Greenhouse. This momentous occasion reinforced the College’s dedication to Singapore's 2030 Green Plan and marked the competition of the final stage of the campus.

2022-23

After a four-year hiatus due to the pandemic, Founder's Day came back with a bang – over 5,000 people gathered in the College to celebrate our students and embrace the essence of what it means to be genuinely Dulwich. The drone show finale was a fitting spectacle to end the day’s festivities.

The College guiding statements were launched at the beginning of the academic year to provide a compass with which to base all decision-making and to ensure we remain focused on our students and the broader Dulwich community.

The pioneering cohort of Year 9 students headed to Hochalpines Institut Ftan in the Swiss Alps for the first Ignite!: Switzerland programme. An exclusive 12-week immersion course, the transformational programme of study consists of an iGCSE core and a Passion Project.

2021-22

The Call to Impact Awards launched, created in partnership with Ranjit Murugason, founder of the Dulwich College Murugason Fund. The awards encourage students to plan and execute service and sustainability projects in Singapore and the wider region.

Multi-award-winning journalist Clarissa Ward, Chief Correspondent for CNN, joined us via Zoom on our podcast about how 9-11 changed her career trajectory, the importance of curiosity when pursuing journalism, and how the breakdown in communication has led to dehumanisation.

The much-loved film-turned musical Shrek! was the second full-scale musical to be performed in The Alleyn Theatre. Based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks Animation film, the beloved characters were played to perfection by the young cast. They brought the house down!

2020-21

COVID-19 rules and regulations could not dampen the spirit of Christmas at the College. The much-loved DUCKS nativity plays, which would have been performed in The Alleyn Theatre, were moved online instead with multiple videos shared capturing adorable students retelling the story of Christmas.

Dulwich College (Singapore) alumnus, Harry Birtwistle, became the first Singapore-born player to sign with a Premier League club in England, the Wolverhampton Wanders FC. Harry was part of the College’s ‘Ignite!’ Sport programme that championed his skill and passion for football.

The ‘Better Together Around the World’ virtual run invited the Dulwich community to collectively clock the distance of the circumference around the globe. This tied in with the College’s motto of ‘Better Together’ despite the challenges brought on by the pandemic.

2019-20

The College came of age this year, with our first graduating cohort of Year 13 students. With a 100% IB Diploma pass rate, our students achieved an average score of 37 (out of 45 points), with 1 in 3 students obtaining an average of 40 points.

We pivoted to Home Based Learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. The College developed a code of conduct that underlined the importance of creating an HBL environment that provided students with meaningful learning experiences reflecting the curriculum and content of what was happening in school.

The musicians, choirs, orchestras and bands of the College may not have been able to perform together but they worked diligently to create a virtual concert that showcased their wonderful musical talents, skills and abilities.

2018-19

Reflecting the 400th anniversary of Dulwich College in London and the 200th anniversary of modern Singapore, the College theme for the year was 'Our Heritage, Our Home'. An outstanding anniversary concert in The Alleyn Theatre included guest of honour, British High Commissioner, H.E. Scott Wightman.

The 400th-anniversary celebrations of the founding Dulwich College in London featured the second Dulwich Olympiad in 2019. Bringing together over 600 students from the network of schools, it included workshops and events to showcase their talents in competitions, performances and exhibitions.

To help raise funds for the Australian Bushfire crisis, the College organised a 'walkabout' around the campus track, with the aim of covering 35,877km, the length of the Australian coastline. Dressed in green and gold, much fun was had by all involved as they raised funds for this important cause.

2017-18

Our Aquatic Centre was named after Yip Pin Xiu, Singapore's most decorated Paralympian, after she trained at the pool in the lead up to the Rio Paralympics.

The College was the first international school in Singapore to introduce a Forest School, accredited by the UK's Forest School Learning Initiative, as part of the DUCKS early years programme. It emphasises the importance of outdoor learning and instils respect for the natural world in our students.

The College became home to the first pipe organ to be built in Singapore in 15 years, and the first school to receive such an instrument in the city state as they had previously been built exclusively for churches and concert halls. The instrument has three keyboards and 2,432 pipes!

2016-17

The first Senior School production of Romeo and Juliet was held in the brand new The Alleyn Theatre. Set in 1960s Brighton, it explored the rivalry of the Montagues and Capulets via the fashion and musical styles of the Mods and the Rockers.

Upon opening the Dining Hall, Mr Magnus referred to Napolean as once saying, 'an army marches on its stomach', and he added that, 'with a Dining Hall to die for, the Dulwich Army will continue to March from strength to strength!' Friday's Butter Chicken and freshly baked naan is world-renowned!

The Senior School opened their state-of-the-art facilities featuring science labs, a two-story library, design and technology rooms and a multi-purpose sports facility with a gym, dance studio and rooftop tennis courts, as well as professional Performing Arts Centre - phase two was finally complete!

2015-16

A night to remember as fathers, in full black-tie, took their young daughters to their first ball, hosted at the American Club.

The first ever Senior School production was the retelling of The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole performed in the Basement Gym, set to a toe-tapping 80s soundtrack and made up of only 22 students!

World-renowned chef Marco Pierre White popped into the College to meet students and whip up a Risotto Milanese. Marco enjoyed a photo session followed by a Q&A with parents, and then conducted a master class after school for over 80 members of staff.

Terracotta tiles –designed by founding College members in a project led by art and design technology teacher, Maria Jenkins– decorated a plaque unveiled by Dr Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment Ministry of Transport, at the College grand opening.

Dr. Amy Khor, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment Ministry of Transport, and Dr. Joseph Spence, Master of Dulwich College in London, cut the ribbon at the College's inaugural Founder’s Day and official opening ceremony.

With the smell of fresh paint wafting down the halls, the Junior School opened to much fanfare. Junior School students cheered from the halls and Y6-8 took over Levels 3 and 4 as they waited for the completion of Senior School campus.
