Why did you choose DCSG back in 2014?
In 2014, we visited most of the international schools in Singapore (and have a few tales to tell about that!) and decided on Dulwich for three main reasons: we felt the mix of academic, artistic and sports focus would offer the best opportunities for our children to find their strengths; the Mandarin programme was a great follow-up from our children’s pre-school Chinese classes and seemed then, as it does today, to be very comprehensive; and we liked the mix of nationalities, it was a very important point for us as a multi-cultural family ourselves.
In what way has DCSG impacted your family over the years?
DCSG has been a constant anchor over a long period of time, including during the complicated COVID period. It has been one of the pillars of making our presence here pleasant and relevant, through friendships, great experiences and seeing our children grow physically and mentally. It has been one of the most constant aspects of living in Singapore, over the 17 years we have been here to date.
What is your proudest moment at DCSG?
It is hard to pinpoint a single moment but seeing our children thrive has been the greatest reward. Of course, seeing them specifically recognised and rewarded, from DUCKS to Senior School, has been a great memento of their progress and development.
What makes Dulwich special to you?
Overall, a sense of community, which, whilst more difficult to maintain in more recent times, as quite a few friends have left, remains present. Our wish is certainly to see this community spirit perdure.
Can you describe the sense of community and connection you've felt with other Dulwich Families/Founding Families during your time at the College?
Dulwich College (Singapore) has been the anchor point of our overall experience. Finding common ground and friendships across a range of nationalities and experiences has been as good for our children as it has been for ourselves and fostering a sense of being part of the successful creation of more than just another international school but of a true community of minds and hearts. We’ve all made lifelong friendships and have gained a sense of attachment to the Dulwich history, which we hope our children will take with them as International Old Alleynians on their future endeavours and successes.
